The bookkeeper sponsors
Even if you don’t know anything about bookkeeping, if you have the right characteristics, you can earn $60 per hour running a bookkeeping business from your home.
Something exciting is happening in the bookkeeping world. What was once considered a boring business is now considered a real profession with great profitability. More importantly, bookkeeping is an undeveloped business market where competent individuals are waiting to be billed.
Is there anything you need to start and grow your bookkeeping business?
You can check it out by signing up for this free online 3-part training.
We sat down with founder and chief instructor Ben Robinson, a CPA of bookkeeping, to learn more about this virtual, home-based business and his upcoming free training series.
Please tell me your background
I have been a certified public accountant (the life of CPA and of course all parties) since 1999. During this time I was the owner of two accounting firms and at the time of this interview 117 people taught me how to become great bookkeepers.
After starting my first accounting firm, I realized I needed bookkeeping help. As you know, bookkeeping is the foundation of all business economic success. It is mission critical that employers have solid bookkeeping in place. And of course, that means having a solid bookkeeper.
So I went out and tried to hire a great bookkeeper: Fail! They were like finding seniors at the Justin Bieber concert: impossible. When I was lucky enough to find a great bookkeeper, they laughed at my request to join me and my company.
They laughed because they have enough business and can make more money than they work for me.
I moved on to Plan B, which teaches me how to go out and find quality individuals and become a great bookkeeper.
At first, my results were average. Some people turn out to be great, others… well, not that much.
One day, “it” listened to me to study the characteristics of the handful of great bookkeepers I personally trained, and what I found during Plan A.

guess what?
These excellent bookkeepers shared seven personal characteristics with T, without exception.
Now I was in something. I began hiring people with these characteristics, and it went out to races with my bookkeeping practice.
I reveal these personal traits that great bookkeepers share with everyone in this free online training. I trained a great bookkeeper for 14 years, and now I teach people how to start my own bookkeeping business, providing excellent service to a hungry audience of business owners.
Fast forward to 2015 and sold the accounting firm. I quickly discovered through the unfortunate situations of my best friend that my new mission is to help people start and grow their own successful bookkeeping business rather than work for someone else.
How did you get involved in teaching people how to start a bookkeeping business?
My friend Kelly called me in tears. She had just lost her job in her stay due to downsizing. Losing your job is never a good thing, but it was double trouble for Kelly.
Kelly is a single mother of three young boys. Losing this from-home job could force Kelly to work outside her home and miss out on many important events in life, such as being there when her children get on and off the school bus.
During this conversation I told Kelly that I needed to start my own bookkeeping business. At first she laughed, thinking I was crazy.
But the more I explained to Kelly the personal traits she needed to have and the unique opportunity to own a bookkeeping business, the more her laugh turned into joy.
What do people learn in your free training series?
I start by explaining the personal characteristics of a great bookkeeper. Most people have no experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or finance. Now I think this is a good thing. Others may think it’s bad. The reason I think lack of experience is good is that these individuals do not need to be untrained from bad bookkeeping practices of the past.
Therefore, the goal of your first training is to help you decide for yourself whether you have what you need to be a great bookkeeper.
Students will also learn through three-part training.
- Probability of income is working fully or part-time in the bookkeeping business
- What you need to do to separate yourself as a great bookkeeper
- The exact technology and tools you need to start and run your business
- The idea you need to succeed – this is ubercritical
- How much does it cost to start and run a bookkeeping business, and my favorite…
- Even if sales are afraid of you, the marketing system you need to win clients
What are the benefits of owning a bookkeeping business?
Am I restricted here? There are so many… Setting up your bookkeeping business the right way!
1. Freedom
The first benefit of owning a bookkeeping business is that you are free to choose when you are working, when you are working, when you are working, and when you are working. When you own your own bookkeeping business and your schedule, you are in control. Do you want to work from home? do! Want to work at your local coffee shop? keep it up! You have the power.
2. money
The second advantage is money. You can earn solid income, equivalent to a high hourly rate. I don’t know of any other business you can mostly start and have so much money potential. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average full-time bookkeeper makes around $47,440 a year. However, this is for employees, not at home business owners. As a self-employed individual, you can charge more while working less time. In fact, in my course, I instruct the bookkeeper to target at least $60 per hour as a target.
3. demand
The third advantage is that bookkeeping is in high demand. Bookkeeping has been around for nearly 500 years. It’s not gone. Technology changes, but the principles are the same as today, just like they were 500 years ago! All businesses are necessary to do bookkeeping. There are nearly 31.7 million small businesses in the US alone, which creates high-demand businesses.

Is it everyone’s bookkeeping?
no!
If someone is looking for a rich Quick scheme, the bookkeeping business is not their ticket.
If someone is willing to invest their time learning XS and OS for bookkeeping, and if it’s the right way to run their business, they need to move on.
However, if you are hardworking and willing to invest your time, we will show you how to start and grow a successful bookkeeping business.
This free training will examine the characteristics you need to become a great bookkeeper. It is important that people considering bookkeeping as a profession are looking at this, and it is important to be honest with yourself about who you are. We all want success, and ensuring that you have what you need for your front-end before starting your business is important to this.
